The Village

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

The Village located  in Niagara-on-the-Lake, is a community based on the design ideas of “New Urbanism”. Designed by 0ne of the originators of “New Urbanism”, Andres Duany, this new community features narrow streets and houses close to the street all to encourage interaction between the inhabitants. A strict design code requires that all buildings share common design elements derived from the historic colonial architecture for which Niagara-on-the -Lake is renowned. These elements include similar mullioned windows, trim details, entrance doors, cladding materials, roof slopes etc. while being incorporated into individual homes.  These town homes also incorporate these same design elements and each home features a  different floor plan. The traditional long facade of  homes proudly shows off its individually designed entrance doorways while the unique end units terminate the facade.
